A Suze Orman Christmas?

OK, I have to post this. As I was writing the post below, I had the Suze Orman Show on. She is actually telling someone she cannot remember the last time she spent money on a Christmas gift for somebody. Instead, she invites people over to her house and lets them pick something out of her closet, or just calls them. Are you kidding me? I mean, I know lesbians are "crafty" but come on. She's worth like millions right? People, please comment below! Is she for real?

Not really our style. I don't think she speaks for all lesbians. Actually, seems kinda tacky to me.

Suze has millions because she does not give money (or gifts) away. My two questions are... Is she cheap or does she have the true Christmas spirit? We personally do not give gifts to anyone at Christmas. The one exception, we give one small trinket to each of our nieces and nephews. When I say small I mean fewer than five dollars. You would be surprised how excited a kid can get over a coloring book. In addition, my partner and I only give each other a card with a personal message. For us it is not about the gifts but about the time we spend together as a family. Most importantly for us, it is about Advent. On another note, we do give various donations to charities in honor of our family throughout the year. This is our way of showing we care about individuals and our community. What is the true meaning of Christmas? It's a very personal choice for each family.

Keeping in mind... The values we instill today will last for generations to come.

lol...that is too funny. But I got to tell you, i would love it if people come over and clean out my closets of crap i dont want anymore. Not exactly in the Christmas spirit, but I would have a clean closest, hopefully, for the new year. I would have the kids go through my munchkins closets too. they got so much crap that hasnt seen the light of day.

oh, very tacky for Christmas though. It really is saying "please take my junk away" Merry Christmas Suze...

Well to each their own i say... but, this year due to the economy i told my friends not to buy me gifts. Many of my friends have been laid off in the past few months. It was made all of us refocus on spending time with each other instead of worrying about what to buy each other. In a sense, it made for a better Christmas. It allowed us to spend quality time together.

Ok that was cute, but the economy needs to turn around, I do like the presents.. GRIN..

As far as what Suze is trying to say is, she's really just talking about she spends the time with her friends, versus worrying about going out and buying some crap present that the friends will never use. Yeah, she might let them go through her closet to dig for "presents", but it sounds to me its more like about spending time with her friends. And hey, if she saves a couple of bucks, good for her.

Not something we would do. Our closet is a mess and I don't think anyone of our friends would benefit from the stuff in there!

On another note, I heard from someone that they did a white elephant exchange this year due to the economy. But instead of buying a new gift, they had everyone get their gift from a yard sale! I heard it turned out to be a hit! People brought the strangest things. I'm actually thinking about doing it myself next year.

That's tacky! Anyone with millions to spend can at least spend a little to show the people you love that appreciate them.
