Today was a very important day for us! Earlier today while I wrote my first blog entry, there was no way I could have known that there was an envelope waiting at home in the mailbox. A letter from the Maricopa County Court. Gregg got home first and got the mail. He has to I can never remember which box is ours. (Well I never get it.) Gregg likes to pretend big things aren't a big deal at all. So he opened it and just put it on the fridge. When I got home I went to put our Powerball ticket on the fridge and saw the letter. The letter that said,
"Blah blah blah Congratulations your adoption home study has been approved blah blah blah"
Approved! Our homestudy is approved. A very big hurdle overcome! Gregg was of course hiding, because he knew I'd want to celebrate. I found him in the office--excuse me, the baby's room, waiting for me. I can't tell you how happy we are. Now since I've been blogging for weeks about how we need to finish our birth mother letter...well I guess we have a weekend project! Tomorrow I'll call Lane at the IAC and get some more direction on it. We will be on the books within the next few weeks. Available to be picked by a birth mother! The home study was the thing I was afraid of the most. Now that it's done, I know, I KNOW we will be daddies. But for now...
We're approved!

Congratulation Gregg and Bobby! I'm so happy for you two. You both will make outstanding Daddies!
Congratulations! That's wonderful!!!!
OH! MY! GOODNESS!! I'm SO excited for you two! Hooray! Hooray!!! Now - more blogging!
I've been reading for awhile, but maybe I've missed some things, if so, just ignore anything that seems inappropriate, rude or too personal - because I have questions/ideas/topics - and none of it is meant to make you uncomfortable.
(actually the whole point is to share your joy. when I'm really excited about something I want to talk about it over and over and over again. in case you share similar ideas I wanted to share your excitement - and really hope to hear more because I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!!)
So - you have an office - soon to be a child's room. Very, very exciting. Will you decorate like crazy?
Are you planning on adopting a newborn? Only a newborn? If twins were an option would you run and hide or jump up and down? Would you have a preference, if it were an option, between a boy or a girl? What things are most important to you? Tell me all about everything!!!
Well Heather (& Kathryn!) I've been reading your blog too and first I have to say, you guys will be pregnant don't give up! We still have a long way to go, but someday we could be parents at the same time!
Anyway, yes our office is going to be the baby's room. We have a lot of work to do on it; repaint (somewhere I posted the color) and Gregg wants to rip out the carpet and put in laminate floors. I want to decorate, but we need to restrain ourselves--our baby will be a newborn, so we don't know the sex. Can you imagine two gay men with a massive redecoration project who can't do much? LOL.
Twins?? OMG...we haven't even thought of that! But as I've posted, we haven't thought of much baby stuff, so far it's all been legal junk. We know we have no control over the sex, so we've made every effort to not even worry about it but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want a little boy!
Congrats you guys - it's great to see more people become part of the IAC family.
Big hugs

Hello! I was just browser and wanted to say congrats! It is wonderful that you two live in a state where gay adoption is possible. It sounds to me like you two are going to make wonderful Daddies! Congrats!
Congratulations to you both. It's such a huge step in the process. Chris and I wish you two the best of luck in your journey.
