Quotes from today's court decision overturning California's Prop. 8:
"Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license. Indeed, the evidence shows Proposition 8 does nothing more than enshrine in the California Constitution the notion that opposite- sex couples are superior to same-sex couples..."
"Moral disapproval alone is an improper basis on which to deny rights to gay men and lesbians. The evidence shows conclusively that Proposition 8 enacts, without reason, a private moral view that same-sex couples are inferior to opposite-sex couples..."
"Proposition 8 is unconstitutional under both the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses..."
"That the majority of California voters supported Proposition 8 is irrelevant, as "fundemental rights may not be submitted to a vote; they depend on the outcome of no elections..."

A fabulous day indeed. Finally someone with a little sense.
It is simply - AWESOME! For real!
They say that the supporters of prop 8 may appeal and if this happens it will go to the surpreme court and if the surpreme court rules that gay marriage should be legal then that will not only provide marriage equality to California but for all of the United States. So I say, bring it! :) Now that we have an unconfirmed lesbian in the surpreme court - bring it!
P.S. Word Verify is - sucked. No lie! hehe
'bout time!!
Happy Happy Birthday to you!!! :)
I hope it's a good one!
It's SO time this. Between this passing and Kagan getting appointed today, I'm so happy! This ridiculous Prop should never have passed in the first place. Of course, you had to vote AGAINST something for the ban to take effect -- a sneaky method that often works. I'm so done with marriage bans. So ready for family respect.
I meant, "It's so time FOR this".
Great day for America. Its all so stupid. We are all humans.
